About xaviersobased
Xavier Lopez (born October 23, 2003), known professionally as Xaviersobased (stylized as xaviersobased), is an American rapper and record producer recognized for his distinctive rapping and production style. He has been associated with the underground hip-hop collective "1c34." and Californian producer kashpaint, and has been credited with helping to develop the internet microgenre "jerk". His work also spans other genres, including trap, plugg, and digicore.
Lopez was born in New York City on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and is of Dominican descent. His mother worked as a DJ in the 1980s. He has cited Chief Keef, Hi-C, Yung Lean, Lil B, and Duwap Kaine as early musical influences. In addition to founding 1c34, Lopez was previously involved with online rap collectives NOVAGANG and SO EVIL BOYZ.
He released his first song, an instrumental titled ";;;;;;;;;;" under the name Xaviersobased on June 8, 2016. On July 19, 2022, he released the song "patchmade," produced by kashpaint, which later gained wider recognition online. On January 11, 2024, he released the single "40" with Surf Gang producer Evilgiane and rapper Nettspend. Following this, he appeared on the online radio show On The Radar, performing a freestyle over an instrumental by DJ Ess, later released as the track "Special". On January 16, 2024, he released the 15-track mixtape "Keep It Goin Xav," hosted by DJ Rennessy and features guest appearances from Nettspend, Yhapojj, Jtxpo, and Kuru.
In a review of "Keep It Goin Xav," Alphonse Pierre of Pitchfork noted that Xaviersobased's music reflects a strong New York rap identity within the broader internet rap scene, describing the style as vibrant, improvisatory, and layered, with both faster and slower tracks offering distinct qualities. On June 5, 2024, he released his second mixtape of the year, "with 2," which was partially unfinished and released shortly after being leaked. Pitchfork reviewer Kieran Press-Reynolds highlighted Lopez's commitment to his sound despite prevailing trends among peers to appeal to broader audiences.
On March 18, 2025, "Impact," a song by Nettspend featuring Xaviersobased, was released, coinciding with Xaviersobased joining Nettspend on the American Invert tour. On April 28, 2025, he released a collaborative EP titled "#BASEDSLiME" with rapper OsamaSon, hosted by DJ Rennessy. On August 1, 2025, he released the EP "once more" On October 26, 2025, Lopez and Che performed the viral track "MANNEQUIN" from "Rest in Bass" during Yeat's set at ComplexCon 2025 in Las Vegas, and later recorded a song with PlaqueBoyMax titled "MOTTO".
