About Tone Ranger
Tone Ranger (AKA Alex Simon) makes dance music that embodies the mysterious and supernatural beauty of the American Southwest. Uniting light and shadow, chaos and order, future and retro, he weaves wild electronic compositions designed for the dance floor. His live shows are unique and deeply moving – integrating ethereal lap steel, whistling, and vocal elements over solid tantalizing grooves. His new self-titled EP, released with Jumpsuit Records, is available on all streaming platforms.
Having spent the last two years living and working in Native nations across the Plains and the Southwest, Simon is inspired primarily by the American landscape and the stories that come from it. In 2016, while in Standing Rock, he founded a recording project called Sovereign Sounds, where he brings recording materials and knowledge to Indigenous communities in hopes of preserving songs, stories and languages and deepening creativity amongst the youth.
With such a violent history and divisive present, America needs to heal from the inside out. The music of Tone Ranger is a deep exploration of the joy, beauty, truth, and mystery of the land we stand on and a prayer that we can move forward and heal together. Read more on Last.fm.
