About Megan Thee Stallion
Megan Jovon Ruth Pete (born February 15, 1995), known professionally as Megan Thee Stallion, is an American rapper and songwriter. She first received attention when videos of her freestyling spread on social media, and she signed with 1501 Certified Entertainment in 2018.
She achieved wider recognition in 2019 with the release of the commercial mixtape "Fever", followed by the extended play "Suga" (2020), both of which reached the top ten of the Billboard 200. Her early success was supported by singles including "Hot Girl Summer", "Cash Shit", and "Savage". A remix of "Savage" featuring Beyoncé was released in 2020, reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100, and contributed to the release of her debut studio album "Good News" (2020). The album’s single "Body" made her the first female artist to achieve three number-one entries on the Streaming Songs chart within a year. She also appeared on Cardi B’s single "WAP", which topped the Billboard Hot 100 and drew widespread cultural attention.
Her compilation album "Something for Thee Hotties" (2021) reached number five on the Billboard 200 and featured the top-20 single "Thot Shit", which received a Grammy Award nomination. After legal disputes with her former label and a criminal case in which she was shot and injured by rapper Tory Lanez, she concluded her contracts with 1501 Certified Entertainment and 300 Entertainment. Her second studio album, "Traumazine" (2022), was her final release under those labels and included the single "Sweetest Pie", which peaked at number 15 in the United States. In 2023, she established her own label, Hot Girl Productions, which released her third studio album "Megan" (2024). Its single "Hiss" became her first solo number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 and made her the first solo female rapper to debut at number one on the Billboard Global 200.
Megan Thee Stallion has received numerous awards, including BET Awards, BET Hip Hop Awards, American Music Awards, and MTV Video Music Awards, as well as three Grammy Awards. At the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards, she became the second female rapper to win Best New Artist since Lauryn Hill in 1999. In 2020, Time named her among the 100 most influential people in the world.
