About Leaving Laurel
Birthed in late 2019 after a long flourishing friendship between American artist Pierce Fulton and Canadian producer Gordon Huntley, Leaving Laurel have developed a penchant for introspective melodic electronic music. On their formation, the duo writes:
“ Leaving Laurel is a tale of two old friends connecting musically for the first time after almost a decade. Inspired by recording into an old, thought to be broken, cassette tape player, a new project materialized seemingly out of thin air - something neither of us knew we were looking for. ”
Inspired by their time together in the hills of Laurel Canyon, and from their formative experiments recording into old cassette tape players, the project materialized seemingly out of thin air - something neither of them knew they were looking for.
Chasing the nostalgic sound that came from their first collaborations, the pair finished their debut self-titled album at the start of 2021, just prior to a horrible tragedy.
Pierce passed away in April of 2021 after a tragic struggle with his mental health. The album was dedicated to his memory, and has come to represent much more than two friends making music together.
In the fall of 2021, Leaving Laurel played their first shows ever, with Pierce’s older brother Griff teaming up with Gordon to finesse and posthumously celebrate Pierce’s final creations.
But now we usher in a new beginning, as Gordon carries the project on his own. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
