Hogie

About Hogie

‘Folk from the Smoke’ Hogie’s debut four-track EP. A long-time resident of London but originally hailing from Warrington, Hogie recently returned to the north-west to record new material with musicians from Liverpool’s burgeoning Honky Tonk scene. Produced by local Liverpool legend and founder member of The La’s, Mike Badger, with a band featuring members of The Shady Trio and The Loose Moose String Band, the tracks were recorded live and lo-fi over two days in September 2011.

Hogie, aka Tim Higgins, has had a varied career in the arts, including painting, photography, film and graphic design. Throughout this time he has been developing and honing his song-writing skills. From his short-lived punk band, formed whilst at art college, through to the present day, he continues to write about the world as he sees it - with all its inconsistences and inequalities providing ample subject matter for his insightful and pertinent lyrics.

In April 2011, Hogie performed solo for the first time at the world renowned ‘Bitter End’ club in Greenwich Village, New York. He has since been performing solo in and around London. With the EP to be released in December 2011 and his debut album the following year, Hogie is looking forward to putting the show on the road with a full band in 2012.
