About HAMI

There are multiple artists with the name Hami/Haami.

1. American rapper Hami, who released his debut album "The Funky Descendant" in 1995.

Hami (born Marquis Dair in Los Angeles, California) is an American rap recording artist, singer, songwriter, producer, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist. Before Hami became a solo artist in his own right, he took on various, other music-related jobs within the industry. He also went by various aliases depending on what music-based position he took. His involvement in music goes back to the early 1980s, when under the name Marcus Dare, he began writing and arranging songs for other artists and groups, most notably Shalamar. As Marquis "Hami" Dair, he wrote and arranged for other acts including Shalamar, Cherrelle, Klymaxx, and Joyce "Fendrella" Irby. He also played music on the albums of fellow west coast rappers Ice Cube, Too $hort, the late Eazy-E, and R&B/urban group, Immature. By the mid 1990s, Hami would sign a deal with Capitol and Underworld Records, and a song by him, "I'm Tha One Ya Slept On", under Hami Wave, was included on the 1995 various artists compilation, Capitol Wreckas!'. His solo debut (and only) album, The Funky Descendant, was released by Capitol that same year. A self-sufficient, consummate musician as well, he has played fourteen instruments. As Big Ham, he also produced albums for MoKenStef and Lucy Pearl, and was featured, along with Arch Bishop, on the track, "On A B*tch", from Big Shady's 2002 album, Shady Times (Hustler's Edition). As Marcus Dare, the latest album he produced to date was Cherrelle's The Very Best Of compilation from 2013.
