About Cousin Chris

Cousin Chris is a rock act from San Francisco, California. Sonically, Cousin Chris' songs are influenced by 3 main musical areas - 1) Folk a la Elliot Smith and Leonard Cohen 2) Post-rock instrumental acts like Do Make Say Think, Explosions in the Sky, Octopus Project and 3) Southern blues-style slide guitar, such as The Black Keys, The Allman Brothers, Iron and Wine, Ry Cooder, and Son House. Cousin Chris' songwriting is largely defined by his unique ability to blend these disparate styles.

Cousin Chris' debut album 'Moon Paper' was recorded in San Francisco, CA at Tiny Telephone Studios between 2007 and 2008. Jay Pellicci (Deerhoof, Xiu Xiu) engineered all sessions and Justin Phelps (Cake, The Mars Volta) mixed all songs with the exception of 'Tamara' and '1492' which were mixed by Jay Pellicci.

Before recording 'Moon Paper,' Cousin Chris played percussion in multiple bands and music projects in the San Francisco area since moving there in 2004.
