Busy P

Pedro Winter (b. Pierre Winter; 21 April 1975), also known by the stage name Busy P, is a French record producer, DJ, record label owner, and former artist manager. He was the manager of Daft Punk from 1996 to 2008, and in 2003 founded the electronic music label Ed Banger Records, signing artists such as Justice, Breakbot, SebastiAn, Cassius, Mr. Oizo, DJ Mehdi, and Myd, among others.

Biography
Winter was born on 21 April 1975 in Paris, France. He grew up under the influence of heavy metal, hip-hop, and rock, which would later inform his work. He has cited Beastie Boys as his favorite band of all time. In 1992, together with his brother Thomas Winter, he discovered electronic music. Shortly after, he began DJing at the What's Up Bar and organizing club nights such as “Hype” at Folies Pigalle and “Smoker The Palace” with David Guetta.

In 1996, while studying law, Winter met Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, who would soon achieve worldwide fame as Daft Punk. They asked him to become their manager, and he remained in that role until 2008.

Career
In 2002, Winter created Headbangers Entertainment, through which he managed artists including Cassius, Cosmo Vitelli, Thomas Winter et Bogue, and DJ Mehdi.

A year later, he founded Ed Banger Records, initially signing Mr. Flash, whose debut release “Radar Rider” became the label’s first. This was soon followed by signings such as Justice, SebastiAn (2004), and later Uffie, DJ Mehdi, Mr. Oizo, and others. In 2008, Winter stepped down from managing Daft Punk to focus entirely on his label and his career as Busy P.

Winter also contributed to Phoenix’s debut album United, performing on a Rapman synthesizer for the track Funky Squaredance. His remix single of Fancy’s “What’s Your Name Again” was a club hit, with the music video produced under Ed Banger Records. Read more on Last.fm.
