About ARTY
There are at least two different artists called Arty.
1. ARTY (fka Álbany) is a Post-Rock band from León, Guanajuato; México. Formed in 2004 by Ricardo, Daniel, Jorge and Pablo, they played at various indie venues in their hometown before winning first place in the “Band Stage 2” competition. This led to several concerts and the recording of their debut EP in Mexico City, gaining wider recognition in the mexican independent music scene. Arty began as an instrumental band, primarily influenced by Post-Rock and Emo bands from late 90s and early 2000s but they stood out among other mexican Post-Rock bands because of its musical beauty in simplicity, strident harmony, and energetic expression both live and on recording. Years later, Daniel (bass) left the band and was replaced by Mario Palacios. In 2009, they won a music scholarship sponsored by the government of Guanajuato in a live competition against classical orchestras, chamber ensembles and academic musicians at the iconic Teatro Juárez.
Between 2009 and 2010, Isaac de la Serna joined as lead vocalist and guitarist, ushering in a new era for Arty. They added lyrics to their tracks and shifted their musical style from Post-Rock to Electronic Rock for the recording of the Eterno Retorno EP. However, he had to leave shortly after the album was finished. Cándido Vera then joined becoming frontman, singer and lyricist, and Eber Bravo replaced Isaac on guitar; Mario, Jorge and Pablo remained in their roles. Eterno Retorno was self-released in 2010, opening doors and opportunities for the band to gain further media and audience attention in other mexican cities. Cándido's grunge-influenced vocal style marked the beginning of Arty's exploration of a more Post-punk influenced sound and a turning point in their career. The band split up a few months after the EP's release and changed their name to Blackpony, recording their debut LP under their new alias began shortly after.
In 2015 the band reunited and started again, with the same name but new lineup: Jorge (guitar) and Pablo (drums) stayed; Isaac (guitar) rejoined and Baruk (bass) joined; but soon Baruk left and Mario rejoined, Pablo also left and Hugo de León replaced him. They are still active to this day, kinda.

2. Artem Stolyarov, or Arty for short, is one of a rising breed of Russian trance producers now starting to make their mark on the scene.
The Moscow-based producer's tracks pop up all over the place, although it's probably with the succession of vinyl he's delivered on the Anjunabeats label that he's most closely associated.
He began his DJ career in 2009. This year, his clean, uplifting sound has made him new friends in both the pure trance and house fanbases, no small part of which was down to another fan, one Ferry Corsten, picking up on a track he made under another of his alter egos, Alpha 9. He gave 'Come Home' prominent billing close to the start of the first CD of his 'Once Upon A Night' collection back in spring 2010, and that, along with his tireless recording and touring schedule, has certainly helped him leapfrog into the chart.
The next 12 months don't look like being any more relaxed, either.
"I've confirmed remixes for Paul van Dyk, Filo & Peri and Gareth Emery," he tells us. "There will be a lot of new singles and I will also be releasing my cover version of Moby's track 'New York New York' on Spinnin' Records.
Quite what his communist era forefathers would have made of such Western decadence we can only imagine, but we know it will go down a storm with clubbers from the Great Wall of China to the Golden Gate Bridge. Not that his excursions abroad to spread his musical message are restricted to America and Canada - as well as Europe and Australia, he's also lined up to visit Indonesia and India.
